I subscribed to Little-Known Box as soon as I heard about their new beauty box earlier in the year, so I was a subscriber from the launch. Sadly, as a blogger and needing to review all different kinds of boxes I had to cancel my subscription a couple of months ago so that I could try out different boxes. However, I did miss having it each month and I eyed other bloggers’ review posts with regret and a little envy. So, I was so thrilled when Little-Known Box messaged me to offer me their Little-Known Box Special Birthday Edition Box to review. I’d already seen this box and it looked gorgeous!
The packaging, as usual, is beautifully sleek. I’ve always loved the black and gold design of Little-Known Box. It just looks so classy.
The gorgeous little back and gold bow is such a lovely touch too. To top it off this month they even added a matching black & gold Special Edition Sticker. I mean, how nice is it to open a box as beautiful as this each month?!
There is also a very well designed, informative print. It tells you all about the box and the products that you will have received. I love that even this matches with their design,
What’s in the Little-Known Box Special Birthday Edition Box?
This Special Edition Little-Known Box was crammed to the brim with goodies; I’m a little surprised they managed to get the lid on! lol
DinkiBelle Nail Wraps RRP £6.99
First up are these rather gorgeous DinkiBelle Nail Wraps. As you can see, I received the Marble design and they are just stunning. I actually used the nail wraps from the very first Little-Known Box just a few days ago; which was the first time I’d ever used nail wraps. I loved how easy they were to apply. I can’t wait to try these ones out. The Marble design is so pretty. I also love the fact that they came with a little kit to help apply them and file the excess off. The organza bag they were packaged in was so pretty too.
Fab Little Bags RRP £1.99
One of the Bonus items for this box was these Fab Little Bags. This is their Handbag Pack. They are very handy to have and very easy to use. I’ve always loved these because they are just so useful each month. They are discreet and you can just pop them in your bag and not have to worry.
Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm RRP £16.50 for 100ml
Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm also makes an appearance this month, plus a sample of the Iconic Youth Serum as the other bonus item. This gorgeous cleansing balm is full of active ingredients such as Sweet Almond oil and their RevitElix™, an Echium oil providing Omega 3, 6 & 9 to reduce lines and wrinkles. This balm will also help repair the skin barrier too. Very important and often times what causes irritation is that the skin barrier is damaged. This is a 25ml size and is plenty to try out this wonderful product.
Lin & Lo Mineral Makeup Satin Lipstick RRP £19.00
I’d never heard of Lin & Lo Mineral Makeup before, so this Satin Lipstick was a really lovely discovery. I got the shade Warm Beige; though I’d say it’s more of a peachy/pink colour myself. It’s actually very subtle though. This lipstick contains vegetable waxes, emollient oils and antioxidants. It also contains allergen-free perfume, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Candelilla Cera.
The Herb Garden Massage Bar in ‘Relaxing’ RRP £8.00 for a box of 2
The Herb Garden is another brand I was not familiar with. Included in this box was a travel size The Herb Garden Massage Bar in ‘Relaxing’. Made from soy wax, shea butter, almond oil, Vitamin E oil, chamomile oil, and English lavender oil, this massage bar has the perfect classic ingredients to help you relax and unwind from day-to-day stresses. It does smell quite strongly of Lavender, so if you don’t like Lavender, this might not be for you. They do have other massage bars available though!
Samaya Ayurvedic Anti-Ageing Creams RRP £89.00 for 50ml
Yet another brand I had not heard of. Three sample size pots of Samaya Ayurvedic Anti-Ageing Creams were included. These creams are based on the concept that in order to maintain balance, you need to take a look at your lifestyle as a whole. You also need to discover your Dosha; there is a questionnaire you can do on their website to find out what your Dosha is.
Dosha is the name given to the energies that govern every individual. There are primarily three types of dosha: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each type corresponds to a set of physical and emotional traits. Often one dosha dominates, however some individuals find that a combination of two, or in rare cases all three, doshas best defines their character.
When our particular dosha is balanced, our mind, body and soul are in perfect harmony, which is revealed through healthy, radiant skin. Yet when our dosha is imbalanced, we notice the ill-effects, including on our skin. Being aware of our dosha type means we can make choices to help balance these energies to achieve wellness, peace and calm, all of which contribute to younger-looking, stress-free, beautiful skin. I answered their questionnaire and I got this result:
Vata (Ether and Air)
Energetic and creative in balance, but worried, tired and indecisive when out of balance. Often of slender build and suffers from cold hands and feet. Tends to have delicate dry skin and hair, which may need extra moisturising and nourishment to keep it glowing and healthy.
There were samples of all three of the Dosha creams, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. I find this whole concept really interesting and will definitely find out more about this. The price, however, is definitely on the luxury side as these creams are RRP £89.00 for 50ml.
Little-Known Box Pocket Mirror RRP £4.00
Lastly but certainly not least is this fab little mirror. Designed exclusively for Little-Known Box in their signature black and gold. This is perfect to keep in a desk drawer, or pop in a handbag.
My Overall Thoughts on the Little-Known Box Special Birthday Edition
I’ve really enjoyed this Little-Known Box Special Birthday Edition.
Little-Known Box has curated lots of fantastic products and I’m so glad to see that the standard of their boxes is as good as it was previously, in fact, I’d say it’s even better!
Out of all these brands, I actually was only familiar with Merumaya and Fab Little Bags because I’d previously received their products in other subscription boxes. So, it is fantastic discovering all these new brands.
If you want a beauty box that is going to offer you quality products from up and coming brands and of course, familiar brands too, then I definitely would recommend trying out Little-Known Box. You can also tailor the products so they are better suited to you by completing the questionnaire when you sign up as well.
