I was lucky enough to be selected to review Benton Cosmetics’ new Cacao Moist and Mild Cream recently.
It’s a lightweight moisturiser that claims to be suitable for all skin types to use. Am I the only one who is always a little sceptical about the ‘suitable for all skin types’ claims on products?
I can only speak for my skin type, which has undergone a pretty radical change since around May. It’s worth noting that previous to the end of April my skin type was dry/sensitive and had been for many years.
I got very ill at that time and ended up being diagnosed with Giant Cell Arteritis (Horton’s Disease). Which meant I have had to go on quite a high dose of steroids. This has had such an effect on my skin. It’s now mostly normal/dry on my cheeks and pretty oily on my T-Zone. More breakouts and more closed comedones too.
How Does the Cacao Moist and Mild Cream Perform?
The Cacao Moist and Mild Cream has been a good moisturiser for even my oilier skin. I haven’t experienced increased breakouts, nor has it made any difference to how oily my skin gets throughout the day. Honestly, if anything, I feel that my skin is more balanced when I use it.
It really is a lightweight cream and absorbs effortlessly into the skin. My skin feels nicely hydrated, soft and nourished after applying. There is no scent is to it, so it would also be suitable for those that don’t like highly scented or perfumed moisturisers.

This is definitely a moisturiser that I will reach for on a regular basis. I just really like how my skin feels after use. It boasts a list of ingredients that contain Cacao Extract, Hyaluronic Acid and various botanical extracts too.
It claims to be slightly acid with a ph of around 6. So I tested the ph for myself, the results are shown below.
I put it between a ph of 5 and 6 by the results I got, though I think it leans more towards a ph of 5. You can decide for yourself though from the results.
Overall Thoughts on the Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Cream
The Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Cream is definitely a moisturiser I will reach for on a regular basis.
I’m not sure how it would perform during the winter but for the summer, the fact it is so lightweight yet hydrating is great.
With lots of fab beneficial ingredients, no colouring or fragrance, it makes a fantastic moisturiser for both morning and night-time.
