My skin is far from perfect but it’s not terrible either. I have some signs of ageing, which you would expect. Such as fine lines and some pigmentation. I also have larger pores across the chin, nose and cheek areas. They’re something that I have always hated. Anyway, I was approached towards the end of last year to see if I would be interested in trying the PMD Personal Microderm.
I have never used anything remotely like this on my skin before but I was really intrigued and excited to try it. So, what does the PMD do exactly?
‘It delivers the same pore refining and skin purifying results as microdermabrasion treatments offered in medical spas and salons, but at a fraction of the price.
This hand-held device will reduce the appearance of fine lines, light scarring and wrinkles. It will also improve the overall skin tone by fading uneven pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, and skin blemishes. In addition, microdermabrasion also helps to reduce the formation of acne as it helps to clear out clogged pores and release trapped dirt and oil.’
I was advised to use it once a week for around 4 weeks, as that would give me a good indication of what the long-term results would look like. Sadly, I had a nasty Fibro Flare that started after I had only used the PMD twice.
When I have a flare-up, my skin really suffers and becomes super sensitive. I’m just now starting to see the back of my flare and want to start over again with the PMD because it showed really promising results in just two uses.
On the left is a photo that was taken before I started using the PMD. The one on the right is after 2 uses; I took the photo for a review of contact lenses but it is a very clear picture of my skin.
You can see on the left, that my skin has some pigmentation, darker spots and an uneven skin tone. After 2 uses, you can see that the pigmentation has faded. You can still see my large pores but overall my skin looks clearer, brighter and smoother.
It’s super easy to use and doesn’t take very long either. The fact you only have to do it once a week is a real bonus too.
The hand-held PMD Personal Microderm combines the power of deep exfoliation with vacuum suction to leave the skin looking brighter, smoother and more rejuvenated than ever.
PMD Personal Microderm uses the same aluminium oxide crystals as found in professional machines, which make up a flat, coarse disc that has a deeply exfoliating effect on the skin. The dead skin cells are instantly removed by the vacuum action of the device, which activates the innate skin healing mechanism that stimulates cell renewal and collagen production in the upper layers of the skin.
What you get in the box:-
- PMD Personal Microderm International
- White x 1 (training disc)
- Green x 2 (1 x Face + 1 x Body)
- Grey x 2 (1 x Face + 1 x Body for very sensitive skin)
- Blue x 2 (1 x Face + 1 x Body for sensitive skin)
- 2 Caps (1 large for body exfoliation and 1 small for facial exfoliation)
- Written Instructions and How-To DVD
- 1 Reusable Filter
- Electric Power Cord
There are also different ‘heads’ depending on your skin tolerance and sensitivity. So you can start off with a gentler exfoliation and if your skin tolerates it well, you can swap to the next disc up.
The PMD easily removes the dead, dull skin cell barrier. Removal of this barrier allows for your skincare products to fully penetrate the skin’s surface. In turn, this means that your skin receives the maximum beneficial effects of the products you use.
If you think of how a vacuum cleaner works, it’s kinda like that. It vacuums your dead skin and exfoliates at the same time. So there is suction as you move it across your skin. This means it’s best that you make sure not to linger in one place too long as you could over-exfoliate.
