AD | When it comes to choosing and buying skincare, I want products that actually work and won’t break the bank. I would love to say money is no object and I can buy what I want. The simple truth is I can’t. I am pretty sure that I am not the only person that has to budget and watch their pennies. The thing is you don’t have to pay loads for good skincare products. In my experience, being expensive does not necessarily mean that the product will be really effective either. That’s why an affordable, ethical brand like The Pro Co is a brand I can really get behind. The Pro Co are also Carbon Neutral; they are collaborating with Offset Earth who plants trees to cover their carbon footprint. (in association with The Eden Project and Gold Standard Climate Security & Sustainability.)
The Pro Co. is a revolutionary new range of ethical beauty products that are 75% – 100% Natural, Vegan and Cruelty-Free. All of our products are made in the UK. Following our strict ethos that governs all new formulations and products we create. We will never test on animals. We strive to responsibly source all of our ingredients and our packaging is 98% plastic-free!
The Pro Co keep their packaging simple & informative, which I actually really like. To me, it says it’s a no-fuss brand. They don’t need to impress and dazzle you with fancy packaging because their products really work.
There are currently 3 products in their range of vegan serums.
- 7% Micro Encapsulated Retinol Face Serum
- Eye Rescue Advanced Formula Eye Serum
- 20% Vitamin C with Hyaluronic Acid Super Serum
Do You Really Need to Use Serums?
I always use several serums in both my morning and nighttime skincare routine. It’s something I have done for around 3 years now. I personally think they are an important part of looking after and caring for your skin. They can deliver higher concentrations of active ingredients into your skin. It can be very confusing though knowing which serums you should use when to use them and how many.
Serums should come after cleansing and toning and before moisturising. For example, my routine is:
- cleanse
- exfoliate (2-3 times a week)
- tone
- essence
- serums
- sheetmask
- eye cream
- moisturiser
- sleep mask – night
- SPF – day
Generally, the rule of thumb is lightest to the heaviest product.
All I can say though is do some research before you purchase. That is exactly what I did. I wrote down the issues with my skin. What I wanted to treat, change or improve. Then I just researched different serums. I read reviews for them before deciding on which serums I wanted to purchase.
For transparency and full disclosure, I actually tested all 3 of these Vegan serums for a short period only. I usually test serums for around 6 weeks. Therefore, these are my first impressions.
7% Micro Encapsulated Retinol Face Serum
Some people can be a little wary of using Retinol. However, this 7% Micro Encapsulated Retinol Face Serum from The Pro Co is really great. It’s a fab anti-ageing formula that will help combat wrinkles, smooth and firm, lower irritation, and enhance penetration. Have you tried Retinol in the past? Has it irritated your skin? If so, this might be a good product for you to reintroduce Retinol into your skincare again.
It feels lightweight when applied to the skin, easily absorbs and leaves no residue behind. There is a very light scent to it which is quite nice. You only need 1-2 drops and you should only use it in your nighttime skincare routine. I’ve experienced no discomfort or irritation whilst using it and I’m looking forward to seeing the full results.
Eye Rescue Advanced Formula Eye Serum
Eye serums usually take around 6 weeks for any lasting effects to be noticeable. Although I swear I do see some improvement in the way of brightness under my eyes. Even though it has been only a short period of using it so far. You need just one drop of the Eye Rescue Advanced Formula Eye Serum under each eye. Then gently pat into the skin with your ring finger. Use morning and night for best results.
Again, the lightweight serum absorbs really well into the skin and doesn’t leave any residue behind.
20% Vitamin C with Hyaluronic Acid Super Serum
Last but by no means least is The Pro Co 20% Vitamin C with Hyaluronic Acid Super Serum. This Vitamin C serum helps to reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, age spots and dull, tired-looking skin. It also contains hyaluronic acid & antioxidants. These help to revitalise, firm and lift your skin.
I love using Vitamin C serums, they really make a difference to my skin. This one has a pleasant scent but not overpowering at all. Yet another formula that just absorbs into the skin with ease. No greasy residue after application either. I do feel like my skin is starting to get a nice glow to it. Something Vitamin C serums are great for. They really do help with dull-looking skin.
So, there you have it. Three very affordable, ethical, vegan serums from The Pro Co. With prices like these, you can’t really go wrong!
