When we get busy with our day to day lives we tend to neglect ourselves. The last year has tested us all emotionally and physically. As things are starting to look up and the end becoming nearer each day we think it’s a good time to start working on yourself and practising some self care. We have some tips below to help get you started.
Top Tips for practising Self Care
Pay Attention To Your Mental Health
Your mental health is very important and should not be ignored if you are feeling out of sorts. Take some time to focus on your mental health, maybe you are feeling stressed, angry, frustrated or anxious, there are many things that you can do to help relieve these symptoms.
Meditation
If you are feeling anxious or stressed a good way to calm your mind is through meditation or yoga. Getting in touch with your inner self is a great way to address any worries or thoughts, practicing meditation can help calm and clear your mind.
Use Hemp Oil
Another great alternative is to use hemp oil, it is a wonderful supplement for easing anxiety, stress, pain and inflammation symptoms.
Take time to yourself
Ensure you take time for yourself each day or at least for a couple of hours a week, to really help ground yourself. Remember it is okay not to feel 100% all the time. Just allow yourself to feel those feelings, address them and try to move past them.
Have a good support System
If you are struggling, talk to a family member, friend or a professional. There are many support systems out there if you need them such as Mind, Rethink, Heads Together and many more.
Take Care Of Your Body
As well as your mental health you should also think about taking care of your body. Our bodies are our temples and we should be treating them like one.
Make healthier food choices
You can start by making better food choices, stay away from processed and high-fat foods. Try and add more fruit and vegetables into your diet. You don’t have to give up all your nice foods just try and eat them in moderation.
be more active
Once you start eating healthier you will find you have more energy to burn. It’s recommended that we aim to do 30 minutes of exercise per day. It doesn’t need to be anything too intense, a brisk walk to get your heart rate up is sufficient enough.
get health check ups
Whilst you are taking care of your body, it’s important to go and see your doctor, dentist or optician. If you have any aches, pains or concerns, it’s always better to get it checked out and it turns out to be nothing. Rather than ignoring it and it ends up being something that’s now progressed. Your health is the most important thing in life, without it you have nothing. So make sure you look after yourself and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
