How To Give Your House A New Look For The New Year

Many people want to rid all signs of 2020 and get straight into the new year. It’s totally understandable as it’s been a challenging year for everyone and certainly not the 2020 that people planned. So if you’re looking for a fresh start for the new year then why not give your house a new look ready for 2021. This doesn’t mean you need to strip the walls and redecorate every room, but you can give your house an update very easily with minimal effort, so here are a few ways to get you started.

Create A Gallery Wall

A gallery wall can change a room completely, not only does it give it a focus wall, a talking point and something interesting to look at, it will change the look of your room and how you see it, which is what you want. You can create this with either pictures and photos of your family, you could get all black and white prints and all black frames to put them in of different shapes and sizes, or you could go with artwork and vintage posters that you like and place them over the wall. There are so many ideas for a gallery wall that you can really make it however you want to. 

Buy New Accessories

You don’t have to redecorate to change the look of your lounge, all you need to do is swap out the old accessories with new ones. Get new cushions and throws with a colour theme, and that will make all the difference. This is such an affordable way to give your house a makeover without having to do much at all. You could do the same in all your rooms as you can simply change the towels and bath mat in the bathroom, you could change the bedding in your bedroom and add cushions and throws there too, and you could go for new tea towels and an oven glove in your kitchen.

Get The Paint Brush Out

It doesn’t have to be a big job, but if you do want to give the walls a fresh coat of paint, this will make your rooms feel fresher and brighter. You can choose to change the colours if you wish but even going over what you already have with the same colour can make your whole house look cleaner and fresher. 

Declutter

One way to feel good going into the new year is to get rid of the clutter in your house by having a good clear out. This will make you feel lighter going into the new year, but also your house and your mind will be freer and more organised. By having a good sort out of your things, you could even make some money if you choose to sell your things or you could do a good deed by giving your old things to charity.
