Okay, how is Christmas next week?! This year has flown by and I am so not ready. I mean, I say that but I really only have a couple of things to get and just the grocery shop next week. Yet, it still feels like I am in a mild state of panic! Anyway, enough of me waffling on. I have the Degusta Box for November 2021 to share with you today.
If you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box For November 2021 Theme & Contents
For November, the Degusta Box was all about ‘Party & Feeling Festive‘ food items. Fingers crossed, if nothing happens with regards to COVID, then people will still be able to enjoy all the festivities this Christmas too. So, anyway, let’s take a look at everything that was in the Degusta Box for November 2021.
What’s In The Box?: Sweet Treats
Menier Swiss Milk Chocolate with Salted Caramel (rrp £1.99) – My family tried this gourmet Swiss chocolate and they really liked it. They said it was smooth tasting and loved the salted caramel. Menier has been making the finest cooking chocolate for over 200 years, so it doesn’t surprise me that their gourmet chocolate is just as tasty!
Product of the Month: McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives/Hobnobs The Fully Coated One (rrp £1.79) – You would have received one of these two items in your box. I received both for review purposes. These were also the Product of the Month.
Now I love chocolate digestives and do enjoy a hobnob now and then too. I thought I would love these but I’m going to be completely honest, as always. I’m not going to tell you I loved something when I didn’t, even if it is the PotM. Unfortunately, I didn’t really like them all that much. I feel the originals of both are much better. For me personally, the biscuits lost their taste in all the chocolate. It made them both taste quite different. Don’t get me wrong they weren’t horrible or anything, it’s just that I prefer the original of each biscuit over their Fully Coated One.
Inés Rosales Orange Sweet Olive Oil Tortas (£2.50) – For some reason, I had it in my head before trying these that they were savoury but of course they weren’t. Very different from a cake or biscuit, which made a nice change. These were sweet, flaky and so good! I’d say my favourite find out of November’s box.
What’s In The Box?: Savoury
The English Provender Co Caramelised Red Onion Chutney (rrp £2.00) – We haven’t actually opened this chutney yet. It’s not something I eat anyway, so the family decided to save it to use with cheese and biscuits over Christmas. I will try to remember to come back and edit this post once they try it.
Hellman’s Sour Cream & Chive Squeeze (rrp £1.70) We buy Hellman’s Squeeze all the time and this was enjoyed just as much as the rest of the range. It really is perfect for fajitas!
PEPPADEW® Sweet Piquante Peppers Whole 400g (£3.00) – These are perfect to keep in the cupboard as they go really well on pizzas and are fab in a salad too!
Mr Filberts Sea Salt & Herb Mixed Nuts (rrp £1.50) – These mixed nuts are incredibly tasty and also quite moreish! They are oven-roasted and then tumbled in sweet basil, oregano and sea salt. Makes a lovely change from plain nuts.
Nairn’s Cheese Oatcakes (rrp £1.50) – I wasn’t sure if I’d like these or not but they were really good. I enjoyed them the most with cheese. Very simple but very very enjoyable and tasty.
Knorr Mushroom & Italian Herbs or Chilli & Smoked Paprika (rrp £1.80) – You would have received one of the two available flavours in your box. As you can see, I received the Mushroom & Italian Herbs. Seasoning blends are always a great thing to have to hand as they can really help to liven up dishes. My family uses things like this on a regular basis and they have already been making good use of this one.
What’s In The Box?: Drinks
Radnor Infusions Raspberry & Black Cherry (rrp £1.50) – My family tried this as I don’t like black cherry at all. They really enjoyed it though and said it was nicely flavoured and not overly strong. I do think strongly flavoured waters, still or sparkling can be a little too much. Well, at least for me personally. I’m all about the subtle flavours.
PASSOA Passion Fruit Liqueur (£1.60) sample / £13.00 full size) – The essential for any Porn Star Martini. All I can say is that it is absolutely delicious and you need this in your drinks cabinet, especially over Christmas!
Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate – 42% Cocoa Hot Chocolate (£4.25) – Lastly in the November box is this hot chocolate. Unfortunately, we did not receive a sample of this so I couldn’t try it for myself. Apparently, it should taste just like STARBUCKS Hot Chocolate, which I’m guessing should be a good thing?
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box For November 2021
With a theme of ‘Party & Feeling Festive‘, I think there were some great items in the Degusta Box for November 2021. My favourite and definitely a surprise find from this box was the Orange Sweet Tortas. I’d also have to say that I loved the Nairn’s Cheese Oatcakes and the Passion Fruit Liqueur.
I really wanted and expected to love McVitie’s The Fully Coated One but sadly they’re not something that I would personally choose to purchase again. In saying that, the rest of the family enjoyed them, so it’s probably a ‘me’ thing that I didn’t like them all that much.
