…and here we are, almost a week into February already, can you believe it? I welcomed New Year’s Day with the news that my twin granddaughters had been born. So that was a great initial start to 2023. Then I had over 2 weeks of bacterial tonsilitis; it was so bad that I even choked drinking sips of water. It was awful. Then, to make it even better another disc has disintegrated in my spine which has damaged even more nerves in my right leg, so that’s fun at the moment. Not to mention the pain that I’m in. Still, I am keeping a smile on my face as much as I can and soldiering on. So, today I have the Degusta Box January 2023 to share with you!
What is Degusta Box All About?
So, if you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box January 2023 Theme & Contents
With breakfast and brunch-themed Degusta Box January 2023 we have 11 items to take a look at. Let’s get to it, shall we?
What’s In The Box? Sweet Treats
Fitbakes Millionaire Caramel Cake 30g (rrp £1.50)
I quite enjoyed this Fitbakes Millionaire Caramel Cake but I did find it incredibly sweet, which I was not expecting. It’s 90% less sugar, vegan and a source of protein too.
H!P Chocolate Salted Caramel Mini Bar (rrp £1.50)
I find plant-based chocolates so hit and miss. This wasn’t actually bad and was actually quite creamy with a pleasant salted caramel flavour.
Swizzels Scrumptious Sweets (£1.90 )
What can I say? Most of these I loved as a kid, and still do love apart from parma violets because ewww lol Plus, these are vegan too. I’m not sure I’d want to share the bag though haha!
What’s in the Box? Savoury
Human Nature Foods Smoky BBQ Flavour Pea Rings (£2.00)
You would have received 1 of 3 available flavours in your January box. I got the Smoky BBQ Flavour Pea Rings. The other 2 flavours are Onion Flavour Pea Rings, Hot Jalapeño and lime flavour lentil sticks. These plant-based snacks were really tasty and made a nice change from the usual snacks we would buy. They also contain 13g of protein and for every pack bought they plant a tree, so good for the environment too.
Product of the Month
LEON Mango’ed Ketchup (£2.65)
I must admit when I first saw this ketchup I thought we wouldn’t like it but my family has warmly received it. It’s also got a brand new name this year – Mango’ed Ketchup. It was formerly known as Tomango. It has a lovely balance of spice and fruit and the blend of tomato and mango is delightful.
What’s in the Box? Sauces
Knorr® Chicken Stock Pot (£1.65)
As I said last month when we had the Knorr® Organic stock pots, they are something we always have in our cupboards as they are just so handy to have. We used these a couple of days ago when Andy made his leek and potato soup; it was just delicious!
Hellman’s Vegan Mayonnaise (£2.60)
I don’t eat mayonnaise at all but the rest of my family does. They really liked this vegan version and said it was just as tasty as the usual Hellman’s mayo.
What’s In The Box? Cereals
Dorset Cereals® simply delicious Muesli (£3.39)
You will have found 1 of 3 available flavours in your Degusta Box January 2023. I received the simply delicious muesli. The other 2 flavours are Simply Fruity Muesli and Simply Nutty Muesli. These are high in fibre and also vegan.
MOMA Almond Butter and Salted Caramel Porridge Pot (£1.15)
Quick and easy plus gluten-free and vegan, these MOMA porridge pots are just great for starting your day. I absolutely porridge – my kids think I’m weird because I like it. This was delicious and kept hunger at bay till lunchtime.
What’s In The Box? Drinks
MOMA Barista Oat Drink (£1.90)
This is perfect for coffee – I will trust my family’s thoughts about this because I don’t like coffee. They also said it froths up really well too. Contains wholegrain oats, fortified with calcium, iodine, and vitamins D3, B2 and B12.
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box January 2023
As the Degusta Box January 2023 had a breakfast and brunch theme I think this was a good box. There was a variety of snacks, sweet and savoury plus cereals. Over half of the products and brands were actually new to me too. It’s always great to discover new brands!
My favourite item out of January’s box was the Swizzels Scrumptious Sweets. It was such a blast from the past for me with the assortment of sweets included. I love Fizzers, Love Hearts and both the lollies but especially the Drumsticks.
I will just have to treat myself to one sweet a day because of all the sugar lol
