The fact that we are already halfway through February tells me that this year is going to fly by like the last couple of years. This year hasn’t been off to a great start. I had COVID, celebrated my 51st Birthday and early hours the same day, we lost Andy’s Dad. Despite him having Motor Neurone Disease it all happened very quickly and it was very sudden. I hope all of you have had a better start to 2022! Anyway, today I am bringing you the Degusta Box for January 2022.
If you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box For January 2022 Theme & Contents
The box for January was all about breakfasts on the go and kickstarting the New Year. So, let’s take a look at all the items that were included in the Degusta Box for January 2022.
What’s In The Box?: Sweet Treats
Prodigy Roasted Hazelnut Chocolate Bar (rrp £1.75) – I let Andy try this chocolate bar as I don’t eat hazelnuts. I think his response was ‘it isn’t half bad for a low sugar, plant-based chocolate’. He did say he’d eat it again, so that’s actually high praise coming from him!
Nine Bar Dark Chocolate & Orange (rrp £0.99) – Andy had to do the tasting for this bar too as he loves dark chocolate. he liked the orange and chocolate, just not the seeds in it. So, sadly he wasn’t too keen on it at all, and it was a no from him.
Eat Natural Low Sugar Granola (£3.00 ) – This granola was well-liked and got two thumbs up from everyone. They also liked that it was low sugar and said that you couldn’t tell.
What’s In The Box?: Savoury
Harvest Snaps Sour Cream & Chive Crunchy Lentil Rings (rrp £1.75) I really wanted to love these and I really did love the texture and crunch. However, the flavour was not one for me. I don’t know why but sour cream & chive flavour always taste sicky to me. It’s definitely a me thing! lol If these had been a different flavour I’m sure that I would have loved them. They went down really well with everyone else though. They’re not as picky as I am! lol
Linwoods Health Foods Cold Milled Flaxseed (£1.99 80g) – Only one of us have tried this yet on some overnight oats. There were no complaints about it, it didn’t really alter the taste or anything, so I guess that’s good!
Quinola Corn, Pulses & Quinoa Crackers (rrp £1.75) – I love rice cakes and these were definitely a brilliant alternative to them. If you like that sort of thing, I think you would enjoy these too. Plus, only 22 kcals each, which is great!
Mutti Polpa Finely Chopped Tomatoes (rrp £1.30) – Absolutely lovely chopped tomatoes. These were fantastic in a bolognese sauce. They really do taste exceptionally fresh and have a lovely rich flavour too.
Lee Kum Kee (Europe) Limited Sachet Sample Box (rrp £4.99) – Loved this sample box of umami sauces. Such a fun way to try them out, plus the recipe booklet is super handy too. Andy is always throwing things together in a pan, so he’s loved using these sachets. If you didn’t know, Lee Kum Kee is the inventor of the Oyster Sauce since 1888.
Dr Will’s All Natural Tomato Ketchup (rrp £3.50) – This ketchup has an incredibly rich tomato flavour. A lot richer than any other ketchup I have tried. I likened it to tomato puree. It was actually too rich for my liking but no one else minded it. If you do love your tomato ketchup, I think you would really like this.
What’s In The Box?: Drinks
Get More Vits Vitamin B12 Drink (£1.50) – Sugar-free and low calorie, this Pink Grapefruit drink contains 200% of your recommended daily amount of B12. B12 is supposed to help with fatigue, tiredness as well as support your immune and nervous system. The Pink Grapefruit flavour also tastes really nice too!
Califia Oat Barista Blend (£2.00) – This compliments coffee really well. There’s no added sugar, and it’s made with whole rolled oats. You can also steam it or drink it as is.
There was also a gift voucher for Richmond’s Toad in the Hole Meal Kit (rrp £2.95) but I was unable to redeem it as our shopping is done online.
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box For January 2022
The January Degusta Box can be a bit of a mixed bag and this years box was no exception. For me, personally, there were only about 4 things that I really liked but thankfully the rest of the family liked everything. So, as usual, nothing went to waste.
My favourite item from the January Degusta Box has to be the Lee Kum Kee Sachet Sample Box. It’s such a great way to try some of the different sauces and also try some new recipes from the recipe booklet that comes with it.
