A beauty blog is an excellent way for people to learn more about different products, brands and techniques. They also provide readers with an opportunity to interact with the blogger(s) through comments or social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
A great outfit, and a great beauty regimen, can also help you feel and look wonderful. It can help grow your confidence, express how you feel that day, and of course, can sometimes even help with your mental health. After all, beauty is best aided when taking care of ourselves, our skin, our nutritional intake, and our sleep.
You might want to start a blog about beauty. It might seem scary, but once you get started it’s really fun!. How can you get started, and build an audience? A lot of people who use Squarespace or WordPress to host their sites have the idea of registering a domain name and moving on from there, but how do you move forward? In this post, I’ll discuss that and more:
Consider Your Niche
It’s always important to consider your niche, which can be defined by assessing what it is you’d actually like to write about. For instance, you may have an interest in reviewing the makeup palettes designed and promoted by beauty influencers from YouTube and other websites. This can be a great way of assessing quality and determining who is actually worth paying attention to. General thoughts and reviews can, of course, be a fantastic idea, but don’t be afraid to specialize with posts that help you describe your own interests.
Checklist of all The Basics You’ll Need to Get Started
This is a checklist of all the basics you’ll need to get started. It’s not exhaustive, but it should give you a good idea of what you need.
- A domain name
- A blog design and template (or use a free blogging platform with an existing design)
- A hosting service for your blog (e.g., Bluehost, WordPress Hosting, etc.)
- A content management system (CMS), like WordPress or Blogger
- A social media account for your blog
Tools and Resources You’ll Need For A Successful Blogging Journey
If you are looking for tools to help you with your blogging journey, then here is a list of some of the most popular tools that can help you in various ways.
- WordPress: The most popular blogging platform and one of the easiest to use. It’s free but has premium features as well.
- Google Analytics: Helps you track your site’s traffic and improve the user experience.
- MailChimp: A service that helps people send email newsletters to their subscribers.
- Canva: A graphic design app that makes it easy to create graphics for social media posts, blog posts, presentations, or anything else. It’s also free!
Build Connections
It’s healthy to build connections with other bloggers or companies that you may review products for. Making a business email address and allowing it to be front and centre of your blog is a great idea. Don’t be afraid to email PRs showcasing what your blog has to offer and enquiring if you can be considered for anything that may be suitable in the future. Or you can ask if they have a PR list that you could be added to. As your audience builds you can also approach brands and PRs about product reviews.
Creating a Media Kit with your stats etc is always a good idea, so you can send it to brands and Pr’s when you email them. It’s also great to support other blogs and engage with the community, as they’re more likely to engage with you. This way, you can share your insight and learn from others in the best possible way.
Consider Photography & Videography
It’s a good idea to consider photography and videography and how that can improve your blog. A few beautiful pictures of you trying out makeup can be uploaded to Instagram. If you compress the image to about 70% of its original quality, then you’ll no doubt be able to upload it to your blog posts, without affecting the loading speed of your website. Videography such as uploading makeup tutorials to YouTube, such as showcasing your new lengthening mascara can also help you spread your thoughts in an engaging format, further enhancing the rich media variance of your blog.
With a combination of these efforts, I believe your blogging adventure is sure to be nothing but impressive. What’s more – I hope you can have a great deal of fun. That’s what it’s all about, after all.
