Into the last quarter of the year and it’s time to share the September 2019 Degustabox UK with you. Can you believe we’re already halfway through October? Nor me, it’s just gone so quickly this year.
If you’re a regular reader then you probably know by now just what Degusta Box UK is. For those that aren’t familiar with it, I’ll quickly explain.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month but you can find a discount at the end of the post which means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!

What’s In The Box?
There was only one box for the September 2019 Degustabox UK as there was no alcohol variation this time. This box is all about ‘family sharing and home cooking’ and there were a lot of fab products to try out. Some familiar brands and some that were totally new to me.
Hartely’s Jelly Pots
First up we have Hartely’s Jelly Pots x 3 in Strawberry flavour. These are great for kids and adults too. I’ve always loved jelly and I know when I was a kid jelly & ice cream was such a big thing but I never liked it with ice cream. I always had mine with blancmange instead.
Riso Gallo Risotto Rice
Risotto is something that I have never ever tried. This Riso Gallo Risotto Rice is ‘plump & stumpy’ which apparently gives the perfect bite and creaminess to it.
Alpen Protein Bars
Each September 2019 Degustabox UK had 2 of these Alpen Protein Bars in them. A Berries & Yoghurt flavour and also a Chocolate one. Really enjoyed these; lots of flavour and are great as an on the go snack.
Lucozade Zero
Lucozade is something I have loved since I was little. It was something my mum always bought me when I was ill. back then it came with an orange cellophane wrapping around the bottle! I love that Lucozade now has their Zero range of drinks, so you can still have the great Lucozade taste but none of the sugar. This box contained one of these two flavours, Pink Lemonade or Orange.
Milkybar Buttons
White chocolate is probably my favourite chocolate and I love Milkybar! My kids loved the Milkybar Buttons when they were little but we all still eat them. Now I get to give them to my grandchildren too! There were 2 x 30g packets included in the September box.
Epicure Pesto
Another thing that I have never tried is Pesto and the September 2019 Degustabox UK contained 1 of 5 flavours of Epicure Pesto. You would have received one of the following flavours: Chermoula Pesto, Zhoug Pesto, Mojo Verde Pesto. Chakalaka Pesto or Chimichurri Pesto. I received the Zhoug Pesto. Pesto is great to use in dips, marinades or as a sauce.
Appy Kids & Co Yummy Bakes
My grandson absolutely loved these raspberry flavour soft bake bars from Appy Kids & Co. I tried one too and they are really tasty, nice and soft full of flavour. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives,
Eisberg Alcohol-Free Sparkling Rose
I don’t drink alcohol these days, well, I’m not supposed to, as it doesn’t mix well with the medications I have to take. So, I really appreciate alcohol-free drinks. This Eisberg Alcohol-Free Sparkling Rose was really nice. Fruity and also low in calories if being alcohol-free wasn’t enough. Definitely best drank when chilled though.
CHUM Fruit Bites
I have received these CHUM Fruit Bites a couple of times now and I love them as much as my grandson does. If I let him he would eat packet after packet. These are 100% fruit and count as 1 of your 5 a day. They are also Kosher, Vegan, and Gluten-free. As they are slow-baked they retain all the vitamins, proteins and fibre.
Very Lazy Garlic Paste
How convenient is this Very Lazy Garlic Paste? I don’t like garlic at all but the rest of the family do. This is just perfect for cooking as you don’t have to mess around with chopping or crushing the garlic.
Boka Cereal Bars
These Boka Cereal Bars have 4 green traffic lights, so they are low in fat, low in sugar, low in salt AND also under 100 calories. Both flavours, Caramel and Choco Mallow were included in the September 2019 Degustabox UK. Both of these were really tasty and make a great alternative and healthy snack.
My Overall Thoughts On The September 2019 Degustabox UK
I really liked this box, especially for the snacks which were great for the whole family. As far as home cooking goes I thought there might have been something a little bit more substantial than pesto, risotto rice or garlic paste – not that they aren’t great to use. I am sure they will get used by the family at some point.
The favourite products of this box were the Appy Kids & Co Yummy Bakes, Milky Bar Buttons and CHUM Fruit Bites! Honestly, though, the only items that I didn’t love were the rice, pesto and garlic paste.
