Your body is constantly replenishing the supply of collagen you need to maintain healthy, youthful skin. Marine collagen is a great source of amino acids that help your body in this process, especially when your diet doesn’t contain enough protein.

The best way to get enough marine collagen for your skin and hair is by consuming it daily as an extract (gelatin) or in the form of a supplement.

1. Increases Collagen Production in the Skin

The marine collagen extract is very high in protein, and it has a lot of amino acids.

It can be used as an anti-ageing supplement to improve the look and texture of the skin, as well as hair and nails. This type of collagen can increase the production of other types of protein in the body as well, which can help to treat conditions like osteoporosis.

New Fruity Flavours from LQ Collagen

If you’re familiar with my blog then you will probably have seen my review of the LQ Liquid Health Supplements, which I’m a fan of apart from the flavour, which I hated because I could taste the ‘fishiness of them. I got around this by adding the liquid supplements into a berry smoothie.

Well, LQ Collagen has some new fruity flavours in their marine collagen powders. I was sent the chocolate and the mango and passionfruit flavours to try. Both flavours are really lovely. I tried both by only adding the powder to water and I am delighted to say no fishy taste, AT ALL!! You can, of course, add the powders to smoothies, shakes, yoghurts, porridge or just plain water. It’s entirely down to your preference.

Overview of LQ Marine Collagen Powder (rrp £32)

  • 15g daily serving.
  • 20 servings per tub.
  • 10,000mg of Hydrolysed Marine Collagen per serving.

Along with the two flavours that I was sent to try, there is a Vanilla and Lime & Coconut flavour available.

These supplements really work, just remember to give them time though. You won’t see results overnight. By 3 months you should see maximum results though. I’d say about 3 weeks in, give or take, to start feeling/seeing a difference. As someone that has experienced hair loss and thinning due to illness and medications, marine collagen helps a lot to combat it. My nails grow stronger and longer too. Plus, my skin definitely benefits from taking marine collagen too.
