April seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye, don’t you think? My mum celebrated her 75th birthday and my second eldest son also celebrated his 27th birthday on the same day in April. That was the highlight of the whole month really. Anyway, today I am going to share with you the Degusta Box for April 2022.
What is Degusta Box All About?
If you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box For April 2022 Theme & Contents
Inside the Degusta Box for April 2022 there were items that fit the box’s theme of UK vs International. So, let’s take a look at all the individual items in this box.
What’s In The Box?: Sweet Treats
nucao Almond Sea Salt, Crunchy Nougat, Crisp and Crunch (rrp £2.25) – You would have received 1 of 3 items in your box, either nucao Almond Sea Salt, Crunchy Nougat or Crisp and Crunch. As you can see I received the Crunchy Nougat. Andy really loves nougat and he really enjoyed this bar, he said it is something he would definitely eat again. These bars have vegan and organic chocolate and no refined sugar. In fact, they contain less sugar than most! They also have natural and ethically sourced ingredients. Plus, their packaging is plastic-free and for every bar sold they plant a tree. I think that is pretty awesome!
My Favourite Product in the Degusta Box for April 2022
LU Le Petit Chocolat, Le Petit Beurre (rrp £1.50) – You would have received 1 of 2 available items in the April box. Either the LU Le Petit Beurre, which is what was in my box, or the Le Petit Chocolat. Let’s just say that in our weekly grocery shopping I ordered 4 more packs of the Le Petit Beurre because we all loved them THAT much! These were lovely and buttery with just a hint of salt, which enhances the buttery flavour. The biscuits also have a nice crunch to them too. I’d give them 10/5 if I could!
Freedom Mallows Choc Mallow Bites (£1.49 ) – These were pretty nice given the chocolate was dairy-free and the mallows are actually plant-based as well. If that isn’t impressive enough, they are also approved by The Vegan Society too.
Jaffa Cakes Lemon & Lime Flavour (rrp £1.20) I do love Jaffa Cakes and I really enjoyed this flavour but I am a big fan of lemon & lime flavoured things in general. Everything you love about Jaffa Cakes but with citrus, tangy lemon & lime middle instead of the classic original orange.
Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Flavour (rrp £1.32) I have to admit that I love sour gummies and love the original Sour Patch Kids. These watermelon ones were so good. I don’t actually like watermelon in anything other than sour gummies. I think my diabetes was hating me for eating these but they were just too nice, I couldn’t help myself. These Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Flavour are the first from the range to be Vegan too!
What’s In The Box?: Savoury
Newman’s Own French Dressing & Dip (rrp £1.85) – Who knew Paul Newman founded this company – I didn’t! I was really impressed to discover that 100% of profits go to charity too. The dressing itself is really lovely as well. I didn’t try it myself but some of my family did and they loved it. It’s also Vegan-friendly too.
Sacla’ Rooted In Nature Organic Sun-Dried Tomato Stir-in-Sauce / Fat-Free Vinaigrette 210ml (rrp £2.80) – A gorgeous, rich-tasting tomato sauce that is made from organic tomatoes. It’s made in Italy and has three generations of family know-how behind it.
Knorr Beef Gravy Pot (rrp £2.00) – Convenient and tasty these beef gravy pots can be used wherever you would add gravy. They use real meat juices and quality ingredients; free from MSG, artificial colours and preservatives too.
Kettle® Bread Bites – Sea Salt. Rosemary & Extra Virgin Olive Oil Focaccia Bites (£2.09) – I didn’t try these myself as I don’t like rosemary. Andy tried them and to say he loved them is an understatement. He was very impressed with them, the taste and the texture.
What’s In The Box?: Drinks
Bitburger Premium Pils (£1.65) / Bitburger Drive 0.0% Alcohol-free (£0.95) – I rarely drink these days due to the meds I take. I might have a glass of Asti at Christmas, that’s it. Anyway, I digress, Andy tried both of these and enjoyed both of them equally. He said he would happily drink either again.
Pip Organic Sparkling Apple (£1.50) – Apple juice is one of my favourites to drink but I usually have to avoid it due to the sugar. This was so refreshing to drink after it had been chilling in the fridge. Lovely crisp, apple flavour, no added sugar AND counts as 1 of your 5-a-day too!
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box For April 2022
For me, personally, this was a bit of a hit and miss box. Mainly because I am such a fussy eater! Like always though, what I didn’t like, the rest of my family did. It’s very rare that anything goes to waste. I think there was a good selection of the UK and International items too.
My ultimate favourite item from the Degusta Box for April 2022 has to be the LU Le Petit Beurre. In fact, as I am sitting here typing up this post, I am eating one of the packs I bought yesterday when we did our online grocery shop. Even better, right now they are actually on offer at Morrisons for £1.00 per pack* (rrp £1.50).
You will also find the Le Petit Chocolat and Le Petit Biscotte Crunchy Cinnamon on offer too. *The offer ends on 24.05.2022. I also really enjoyed the Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Flavour and the Pip Organic Sparkling Apple.
