I was starting to think that we were truly transitioning into Autumn, the weather had been cooler but then this past week and today it’s been warm enough outside for my room to be 24 C. I’m so over the warm weather. It’s October, in fact, heading into the second week of it! I’ve actually felt a bit crappy the last couple of weeks or so. Can’t pinpoint exactly what it is, just a general kinda bleurgh feeling. Anyway, less about me, I’m finally here to share with you the Degusta Box for September 2023.
What is Degusta Box All About?
So, if you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box September 2023 Theme & Contents
Like last month, the Degusta Box for September 2023 doesn’t have a specific theme, so there’s a pretty mixed bag of items, well, a mixed box technically! Anyway, let’s dive in and take a look at what this box has to offer!
What’s In The Box? Sweet Treats
Fruit-tella Out in Space Jelly Sweets (rrp £1.50)
Pineapple, strawberry and peach-flavoured moon, planet and rocket jellies. These are full of fruity flavour, made from real fruit juice and have natural colourings and flavours. I’m a sucker for these types of jelly sweets and so I really enjoyed these!
Available at Co-op
What’s in the Box? Savoury
Mission XL Wraps (£2.00)
These wraps really were XL, they were huge! They are 30cm big and really do a great job when normal-size wraps just can’t handle everything you want to fill them with. My youngest son made a few different wraps with these, including a couple that he did in the oven. Not my thing but he loved them!
Available at ASDA
Pasta Garofalo Rigatoni Pasta (£2.50)
We eat a lot of pasta in our house though I didn’t get a look in with these as my son used them for a pasta bake. He said it was really tasty. He ate it before I even saw it lol
Available at Ocado, Amazon and Booths and local stockists
Ryvita Crackerbread (rrp £1.59)
Crackerbread is one of my favourite things to eat. I love them with Primula Cheese Spread. I also like them with soft cheese and jam – don’t judge lol I’ve loved crackerbread for years though, ever since they came out in the 80’s! You would have received either original or whole grain in your September box.
Available at major supermarkets
Chipoys Chilli & Lime (£1.99)
I didn’t try these but Andy did and he liked them. He said it was nice because you could really taste the lime and he said that the chilli came in at the last moment and was quite hot! One of my sons tried them but found them too hot lol
Available at Amazon and across independent convenience and symbol stores
What’s In The Box? Drinks
6 O’clock Gin London Dry Gin & Tonic (£ 3.00)
I don’t like tonic water so Andy tried this classic G&T. He said it was a real pleasure to drink, plus really convenient being in a can. The taste wasn’t compromised in any way either. So yes, he was very impressed.
Available at Co-op stores and on Ocado
Green Cola & Lemonade (£1.19 each)
You should have received both the Cola and the Lemonade flavour in your box. These are made without aspartame, are low/no sugar and are low in calories too.
I am extremely picky when it comes to cola, especially when it’s a brand I don’t know. However, I was really surprised and impressed with Green Cola. It has such a lovely flavour, that complex flavour that I am used to tasting when drinking cola. I would even go as far as to say it’s the nicest cola I’ve tasted. The lemonade was just a tad too lemony for me and a bit on the bitter side so I wasn’t as keen on that one.
Available at Sainsbury's, Ocado, Amazon and Holland and Barrett
What’s In The Box? Sauces
Product of the Month
Mutti Regional Passata Tuscany Made with Rossoro Tomatoes (£2.70 each)
Mutti’s Regional Passata Tuscany is made with the finest Rossoro Tomatoes sourced from Tuscany. These exceptional tomatoes are carefully chosen when they are perfectly ripe and processed within a mere 24 hours. These Rossoro tomatoes are cultivated in the beautiful Valle d’Oro in Tuscany. They bring a unique fruity taste to this smooth passata, adding a touch of deliciousness that will make your taste buds sing.
Available at Sainsbury's and Waitrose.
Simply Cook Goan Curry or Creamy Chorizo Penne (£2.50 each)
You would have received either the Goany Curry or Cream Chorizo Penne in your Degusta Box for September 2023. These kits come with 3 pots ‘of pleasure’ packed with up to 23 ingredients! We have tried both of these and both were really easy and tasty. We’ve since bought more so that shows how much we enjoyed them!
Available in major supermarket chains
wagamama House Dressing (VG) (£2.50 each)
Honestly, I’ve never tried anything from wagamama because my taste in takeout is as bland as it gets. I know it’s very popular though.
Their house dressing is a delicious creation, inspired by their mouthwatering katsu curry side salad. It’s bold, bursting with aromatic flavours of shallots, soy sauce, and garlic. It’s safe to say that adding it to any salad is a no-brainer.
Available at Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury's and ASDA
What’s In The Box? Cereal
Jordan’s No Added Sugar Granola (£3.60 each)
You would have received either the Jordan’s Triple Nut or Apple & Berry No Added Sugar Granola in your box. These went down a storm with pretty much the whole family, I think the Apple & Berry being the most popular out of the two. These delightful clusters were incredibly tasty eaten with milk, or with yoghurt and fresh fruit and I love that there is no added sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Available at Waitrose
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box September 2023
Degusta Box September 2023 was a pretty good box. I liked about 5 items and my family loved everything! My youngest son made a delicious pasta bake with Mutti Regional Passata Tuscany and the Garofalo Rigatoni. It was a shame he didn’t take photos and I only knew he’d made it after he’d already eaten it!
My favourites from this box are the Fruit-tella Out in Space Jelly Sweets, Ryvita Crackerbread and last but by no means least Green Cola. The lemonade was a little too lemony for me as I found it somewhat bitter.
