I’m a little bit late with the May 2019 DegustaboxUK, my mental health has taken a bit of a bashing since the beginning of May, so just had to take some ‘me time’ to recharge my batteries and whatnot.
So, if you don’t already know about DegustaboxUK and what it is, let me enlighten you!
It is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. The May 2019 DegustaboxUK theme was ‘Brunch & Afternoon Tea‘ and there were 3 versions of the box, depending on the preferences you chose when signing up.
So, let’s have a look at what was in the box!
This dairy-free milk has 9 vitamins and minerals and is suitable for toddlers to seniors. I’m not a milk lover really, only have it on cereal but this is a great alternative for anyone that is looking for dairy-free milk.
Depending on your chosen preferences you would have received either the Real Good Ketchup Smokey BBQ, Kuhne Gin Cornichons & Whiskey Cornichons, or the La Gioiosa Prosecco Brut DOC Treviso.
The Prosecco was lovely but I’m a sucker for prosecco anyway. My family really enjoyed the smokey BBQ sauce. We passed the cornichons onto a friend as it’s not something we would eat ourselves and they said they really enjoyed them; they had them with a charcuterie assortment platter.
This is a botanical drink and it’s made from fruit juice, still water and active botanicals. Plus they only contain naturally-occurring sugars too. Vegan friendly with no colours or preservatives, this is a lovely refreshing drink, especially when served chilled.
Now I don’t like Mayo at all but the rest of my family do and this went down a storm with them. Oh and if being Vegan friendly isn’t enough – it’s also gluten-free too!
This was the Product of the Month for the May 2019 DegustaboxUK! It makes a really lovely tea and tastes great either hot or cold. It’s actually quite fruity and really light and refreshing.
Milkybar® has always been such a favourite of mine since I was a kid. I just love white chocolate and I wanted to love these Mixups so much BUT I just didn’t. I didn’t enjoy them at all. My son loved them though.
You would have received 1 of 4 flavours in your box. I tried the sea salt & balsamic and when they first hit my tongue, I thought yeah, these are nice but then the taste changed and I really did not like them at all. Definitely not for me, but if you like this kind of snack I am sure you would enjoy these too,
I’m very familiar with Indie Bay Snacks and I already LOVE these rock salt Spelt Pretzel Bites. They’re so crunchy and salty and extremely moreish! Less than 100 cals per pack, Vegan and a source of protein too.
You can’t really go wrong with Midget Gems! These are Vegan, & made without sugar, gluten, gelatine and dairy. Also egg-free, soy-free, GMO-free, free from artificial colours and flavours too. They are still very tasty and fruity though!
The last three items are the Daelmans Duo Stroopwafels and of course, it was lovely – both waffle & caramel filling. Then the SPLENDA sweet minis, which are a great alternative to sugar – each mini has the same sweetness as a teaspoon of sugar but no calories! Lastly is the Fruity Beauties Organic & Fairtrade Snack Bar. This was one of my favourite items in the May 2019 DegustaboxUK! It was bursting in flavour, full of fruity goodness. Plus, it counts as one of your 5 a day!
My Overall Thoughts On The May 2019 DegustaboxUK
This box was a bit of a mixed bag – or box – for me. Though in saying that there were only the Cornichons that the whole family wouldn’t eat. I am an incredibly picky eater though and have a few food intolerances which make it harder.
My favourites this month were the Fruity Beauties Organic & Fairtrade Snack Bar, which I loved! Also, the La Gioiosa Prosecco Brut DOC Treviso, which I really enjoyed. My third choice is the Spelt Pretzel Bites by Indie Bay Snacks, just so crunchy, salty and downright delicious!
