Hope you all had a good Halloween! I used to really love Halloween and we always did big parties for our kids when they were young – the whole house was decorated inside and out. Now they are all adults we don’t do anything. This year we didn’t even get any trick-or-treaters knocking either; we used to get loads but then I guess they’re all adults now too. Anyway, let’s check out the Degusta Box for October 2022.
What is Degusta Box All About?
So, if you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box for October 2022 Theme & Contents
The whole theme for the October box was movie night. So let’s take a look at all the items that were in the box.
What’s In The Box? Sweet Treats
KitKat® Chunky Caramel (rrp £0.70)
Product of the Month: I enjoy the KitKat® Chunky and this new Caramel one was enjoyable. However, if I’m being completely honest I found that the wafer didn’t have that usual crisp bite to it. It felt more like a stale ice cream cornet; more chewy than crispy. Maybe it’s the yummy soft caramel that affects it, I’m not sure but if the wafer was like it usually is then I would have given it 5 stars
Nick’s Peanut n’ Fudge (rrp £1.50)
Simply fudgy and peanutty and delicious. No added sugar, no palm oil and gluten-free too!
Dorset Cereals Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut Muesli Crunch (£2.69 )
We’ve had Dorset Cereal before and although I don’t eat this myself, my family love every flavour they’ve tried and this was no exception!
What’s In The Box? Savoury
Knorr Thick Vegetable & Chicken Noodle Soups (rrp £0.90)
Both of these packets of soup were in the October box. I used to love the little dried squared soups back in the 1980s, they were called Chef’s Square Soup and that is what these remind me of. Quick and very delicious and my 2 favourite soup flavours too! Love love love these!
Nature’s Heart Sea Salt & Pepper Crunch (rrp £2.25)
You would have received one of 3 available flavours in your box for October. Containing 12g of protein and 7g of fibre per 50g, these crunchy mixes of edamame, peas, broad beans and seeds count as 1 of your 5 a day. This flavour was lovely and crunchy with just the right balance of salt and pepper.
What’s in the Box? Sauces
Ballymaloe Relish Original Tomato Relish (£2.20)
Made with only 100% natural ingredients this relish was created by Ireland’s first female Michelin star chef, Myrtle Allen, in 1964. It’s made in small batches so you know that you are going to receive the best and freshest tomato relish. Perfect for bringing your burgers to life!
What’s In The Box? Drinks
Dalston’s Rhubarb Soda & Cherry Soda (£1.25)
I absolutely loved these, especially the cherry was straight-up reminded me of cherry drops. They’re refreshing and have lots of fruity flavours and just the perfect amount of fizz to them. Free from refined sugar, low in calories, no artificial ingredients, carbon neutral and farm-friendly; what’s not to love about Dalston’s? Both of these flavours were included in the box for October.
Shaken Udder Vanillalicious and Chocolush (£2.59)
Included in the Degusta Box for October 2022 was the extremely delicious Shaken Udder Vanillalicious milkshake. I also received the Chocolush too for PR purposes. Both of these drinks really are silky smooth, delicious milkshakes that are full of flavour. Two of my kids, as in my 19yr daughter and 23yr old son, were fighting over them! They are full of calcium and protein, plus they are gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians too.
Starbucks® Signature Hot Chocolate Salted Caramel (£4.25)
This time of year is synonymous with drinking mugs of creamy hot chocolate. So these Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate sachets by Starbucks® are just ideal for having whilst bunkering down with blankets to watch a movie! Using warm milk to make them, they have the smooth, creamy caramel flavour with just a small hint of salt. You can also add some cream and marshmallows for that extra indulgent hot chocolate drink.
Brixton Brewery Reliance Pale Ale (£2.00)
I confess that I am not much of an ale drinker be it pale or otherwise. So, when I tried this pale ale I found it quite bitter. Whereas, the lads in my family said it wasn’t bad. I think that’s their way of saying it was nice but they prefer other drinks over it. Those that drink in my family are more gin, rum and wine drinkers.
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box for October 2022
Overall I thought there was a good selection of products in the Degusta Box for October 2022. Thankfully the smell of the Very Lazy Chopped Garlic no longer lingers in my room! The weird thing was when you smelled the actual jar you couldn’t really smell it! Bizarre!
My favourite items in the October box were the Dalston’s sodas, especially the Cherry. As someone that doesn’t drink tea and coffee, it’s really nice to have more than just water and the usual fizzy pop to drink.
My other favourite items were the Knorr soups.
