What’s In the Box?
The box is always very well packed with protective bubble wrapping and an outer brown wrapping closed with a DegustaboxUK sticker. Any items inside the box that might break, like glass jars or bottles are always wrapped individually in extra bubble wrap too. In over a year I have never received anything that was broken.
August’s theme is Back to Work/School, so let’s take a look at what items were in the August DegustaboxUK, shall we!
Maggi Fusion Sticky Hoisin Duck Noodles RRP – £1.39 & Maggi OR Maggi 3 Minute Noodles x 3
In your box, you will have received either 1 packet of the Maggi Sticky Hoisin Duck Noodles OR 3 packs of the Maggi 3 Minute Noodles. We buy Maggi noodles most weeks so these items are firm favourites in our household. I especially like the 3 minutes noodles in the chicken flavour. They are so quick and easy to make; a really tasty snack that takes no time to make.
illy Instant Smooth Taste Coffee – RRP £5.85
Now I am not a fan of coffee, I just don’t drink it. However, there are coffee lovers in my household so they tried this and really enjoyed it. They said it was a really smooth tasting coffee, not bitter and perfect to drink any time of the day. It was a big hit with them, I do know that.
LioBites Smoothie Bites – RRP £1.99 each
Now I love finding new healthy snacks and these smoothie bites are pretty tasty! The Mango, Banana & Passionfruit were my favourites because I don’t happen to like Coconut, though they smelt really good. These are bites of 100% natural fruit, blended then freeze-dried to make delicious & crunchy snacks. They also count as one of your 5 a day too! A really nice healthy alternative for the lunchbox.
Rowntrees Randoms 30% Less Sugar Pouch – RRP £1.29
I am a bit of a sucker for sweets like these Randoms but having Diabetes I have to try and stay clear of them. Having a pack that is 30% less sugar is great because it means I can eat a couple and not feel so guilty about it. I can’t taste any difference between these and normal Randoms. They are still pretty high in sugar but 30% less is better than nothing.
Good Hemp Unsweetened Dairy Free Drink – RRP £1.60
This is a dairy-free alternative to milk and is made from organic Hemp seeds. It is 100% natural, vegan-friendly, free from GMOs, dairy, lactose, gluten, soy and nuts. I must admit that I wasn’t that keen on this. I can’t even really describe the taste but it just wasn’t for me at all.
Dorset Cereals Spectacular Grains – RRP £3.49
This was one of three flavours that you could have received in the August DegustaboxUK. As you can see from the photos it looks really tasty. It’s made with toasted spelt flakes and popped grains. That is what gives it a crisper crunch than their classic mueslis. So many flavours and textures, it’s a really tasty mouthful. I’m not usually a fan of muesli but this one was absolutely delicious! It was really rather moreish.
John West Infusions Salad Tuna Fillets – RRP £2.29
There were three flavours that you may have received in this box, Chilli & Garlic, Basil and Lemon & Thyme. I already knew that these weren’t for me as I don’t like tuna, or chilli or garlic! They didn’t go to waste though as someone else in the family had them. Apparently, they were really tasty, full of flavour and the tuna was really tender.
Boka Bar – RRP £0.75 each
These tasty cereal bars are low in fat, saturated fat, sugars and salt. Not only that they also come in at under 100 calories too. These were surprisingly really tasty and would make a lovely snack to go in a lunch box. Or you know, just have them as a snack whenever!
Gunna Craft Soft Drinks – RRP £1.09 each
These drinks are 100% natural flavours, less sugar and no artificial colours or preservatives. Most soft drinks can be pretty boring but the Gunna flavours are just that little bit different. I thought both flavours were really nice and I would happily drink more of these. If you are after a change from your normal soft drink, you should definitely check this brand out!
Crooked Beverage Co. Alcoholic Soda – RRP £2.00
This is the second time I have come across Crooked Beverage Co. Alcoholic Soda and in particular, the Raspberry & Lime flavour. It tastes really nice and refreshing but you can definitely taste that is alcoholic. One great thing about these drinks is that they contain less than 5g of sugar and just 46Kcal per 100ml. Not forgetting that they are made with natural ingredients and don’t contain any ‘nasties’.
My Overall Thoughts on the August DegustaboxUK 2018
Once again a really nice selection of items to try. I think my favourites were the Gunna soft drinks and the Crooked Beverage Co. Alcoholic Soft Drink, which also happens to be the Product of the Month too!
A lot of the items would be great quick snacks to take to work or school.
I also like that they had a ‘breakfast selection’ in the shape of the Dorset Cereals Spectacular Grains, the illy Instant Coffee and the Good Hemp dairy-free drink.
