We are already winging our way to the middle of January and Christmas feels like an age ago! I’m currently ill with COVID too. Of course, I couldn’t get the new milder strain, I had to catch the normal COVID. I haven’t left the house in 10 years, apart from going to hospital appointments and I haven’t left the house at all since before COVID hit the UK. Just my luck I’d catch it anyway. Anyway, thankfully I had already tried the items from the Degusta Box for December 2021 before I got COVID, as I have no sense of taste or smell at the moment either.
If you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box For December 2021 Theme & Contents
December’s box had the theme of ‘Winter Warmers & New Year’ So, let’s take a look at all the items that were included in the Degusta Box for December 2021.
What’s In The Box?: Sweet Treats
Swizzels Drumstick Chocolate (rrp £1.00) – I love Swizzels Drumsticks, especially the Squashies but I wasn’t as keen on this chocolate as I found it a little too sickly sweet. It definitely captured the flavour of drumsticks though.
McVitie’s Mince Pie Milk Chocolate Digestives (rrp £1.59) – I love mince pies and I love chocolate digestives and thought these would be a match made in heaven. Not so much for me. I honestly couldn’t decide if I really liked them or not. I think I’d still prefer to eat normal digestives over these.
Rhythm 108 Hazelnut Praline Soft-Baked Cookie (£1.49) – I didn’t try this myself as I don’t eat hazelnuts but it was given two thumbs up. Delicious and you wouldn’t know it was gluten-free either.
NICK’S Crunchy Caramel (rrp £1.50) – This was indeed, very crunchy. Not something I would buy again though as it just didn’t taste amazing or anything. For anyone that wants a gluten and palm-oil free snack, then it might be just the thing.
Curiously Cinnamon Breakfast Cereal (rrp £2.80) Cinnamon is one of those Autumn/Winter spices that I have never liked. However, if you love little squares of crunchy wholegrain cereal that taste of cinnamon, then you will probably love these! My kids loved them.
What’s In The Box?: Savoury
Pipers Crisps Pitta Chips Cawdor Hills Garlic & Herbs / Biggleswade Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream (£1.10) – The rest of the family tried these as I don’t like garlic or sweet chilli. They really enjoyed both flavours but the sweet chilli & sour cream was the best out of the two.
Product of the Month: Cup Noodles Soba Japanese Curry (rrp £1.49) – My daughter tried this and she absolutely loved it and wanted to know if we could buy some more. I’m not a big curry fan but I have to smell it did smell really nice.
Cheesies Cheddar/Gouda (rrp £1.19) – You would have received one of two flavours in the Degusta Box for December 2021. I received the cheddar flavour. I’ve had all flavours of Cheesies before and I love, love, LOVE them. Incredibly moreish and extremely full of flavour. If you love cheese, you will love these too.
Bertolli Virgin Olive Oil Originale or Olive Oil Classico (rrp £5.00) – You would receive either this Originale olive oil or the Classico one in your December box. I mean, what can I say about this kitchen classic and staple? It’s really worth making sure you always have some to hand in the kitchen.
Amy’s Kitchen Organic Quinoa Kale and Red Lentil Soup (rrp £2.15) – This really is a thick and hearty soup. If quinoa, lentils, Kale and veggies are your thing I think you would really enjoy this. I wanted to like it but I just didn’t like the taste, so it’s a no from me.
What’s In The Box?: Drinks
Vita Coco Choc-o-lot (£3.75) – Chocolatey and coconutty and delicious dairy-free alternative if you love chocolate milk. Only 25 calls per 100mls too!
VADHAM® India Maharaja English Breakfast Tea (£1.00) – Assam black teas in a pyramid tea bag. It’s a strong, flavourful tea. You would have received two sachets in your box.
Aspall Draught Cyder 500ml (£2.20) – This is quite a dry cyder, I usually prefer something sweeter. Having said that it was still a really lovely, refreshing drink, chilled straight from the fridge.
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box For December 2021
There weren’t as many items that stood out for me in the December Degusta Box. It was definitely a good all-around box for the family as a whole though.
My favourite item from the December Degusta Box has to be the Cheesies though, I seriously do love them, so much. Such a fantastic snack for a diabetic like myself too as they are protein-packed.
