It’s been a while since I have posted a Degusta Box review. To be fair it’s been a while since I have posted anything. All I will say is that I just haven’t been in the best of places mentally and physically. I haven’t done anything in months. So, let’s get on with why I am here, the review of the Degusta Box for May 2024.
What is Degusta Box All About?
So, if you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £14.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £9.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box May 2024 Theme
There was no specific theme for the May Degusta Box and it features 11 brands and 11 items. So, let’s dive into the contents of the box.
Contents of the May Degusta Box 2024
Sweet Items
PhD Nutrition Smart Bar Chocolate Hazelnut (£2.50 ea)
This bar is pretty big and it’s filled with yummy gooey caramel, krispies and a soft protein centre. All of which are coated in delicious chocolate. In all honesty, I didn’t expect to like this but it was absolutely lovely. It’s also high in protein and low in sugar!
Available at PhD.com and Amazon
Swizzels Strawberry and Cream Squashies (£1.15)
I was slightly biased trying these because I love Squashies and the Strawberry and Cream flavour is fruity and just very moreish.
Available at major supermarket chains
Savoury Items
Batchelor’s Cook With Noodles (£2.25)
You can’t go wrong with this pack of chicken noodles. It’s something that we use a lot in our family. Be it just the noodles on their own or used with meat, veg etc We always have packets of noodles in our pantry, so this 4 pack is great!
Available in major supermarket chains
Mr.Porky Crispy Strips (£1.25 ea)
These were so tasty and loved the crispy bite they had; thankfully not as hard as traditional pork scratchings. If you like your bacon crispy I think you would love these!
Available in major supermarket chains
Kettle Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream (£2.40)
I love Kettle Chips but I’m that boring person who only eats ready-salted, so I let my family try these and they went down a storm. They loved this flavour and I am sure we will be buying this in the future.
Available at Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and ASDA
Sauce, Condiments or Gravy Items
Maldon Salt Kalahari Desert Salt (£2.50)
This salt is great with meat, even for grilling or for a BBQ. It’s a coarse salt and as its name implies, it is harvested from the vast plains of the Kalahari Desert.
Available on Amazon
Very lazy Jerk Paste (£1.99)
We love Very Lazy, they’re so convenient and great for keeping in the pantry. We’ve not used this yet but if there other ones are anything to go by, this is probably going to be great!
Available in Morrisons
Sacla’ UK Char-grilled Aubergine & Roasted Garlic Pesto (£3.35)
For me, this is the stuff nightmares are made of, well, slight exaggeration but I dislike all the ingredients, so it’s a no from me. I’m not sure if anyone in the family likes this. I’ll most likely pass it on to someone who would like it.
Available in Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose and online at Ocado and sacla.co.uk
Cereal Items
Product of the Month
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies (£3.30)
A staple in many homes I’d imagine; we always buy Rice Krispies. I love that they partnered up with football clubs to be able to offer 7-14 year olds the chance to play and have access to professional coaches, so they can learn from the best.
Available at major supermarket chains
Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Drinks
Nescafé Azera Americano (£6.25)
Andy loves his coffee and he was really happy that this was in the Degusta Box for May 2024. We don’t buy this brand unless it’s on offer because it’s a tad expensive for our shopping budget. But this is perfect for making iced Americanos. It seems to be what everyone drinks in the Kdramas I watch!
Available in major supermarket chains
Frobishers Sicilian Lemonade Presse (£1.79 each)
So zesty, light and refreshing, it would be ideal chilled on a warm day – though given it’s June and the weather is decidedly Autumnal at the moment, we might not get a warm day lol
Available in WHSmith and selected gastronomy
Final Thoughts On The Degusta Box May 2024
I thought that the May box was pretty decent and had a nice balance of sweet, savoury and drink items. Plus, it was great to see Kellogg’s Rice Krispies featuring as Product of the Month – a bowl of Rice Krispies is good any time of the day or night!
My favourite items from the May Degusta Box are the Swizzels Squashies, the Batchelors Cook with Noodles and the Mr Porky Crispy Strips!
