I’m currently dying in the heat in my room, which is a lovely 28°C. It’s so frustrating when I have a portable AC unit that would cool down this room in about 15 mins to 17°C. The trouble is the cost of the electricity to use it! Ugh! Doesn’t help that I only came out of the hospital Thursday and whilst I am loads better I am still not 100%. Anyway, that’s my moan for the day and now I will focus on the reason I am here today – the Degusta Box for May 2023.
What is Degusta Box All About?
So, if you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box May 2023 Theme & Contents
The May box had a theme of BBQ and Garden Party. There was a total of 15 items in this box.
What’s In The Box? Sweet Treats
Mentos Fanta 4pk Multipack (rrp £1.50)
I don’t mind Mentos but they’re not a band I go out of my way to buy. However, that might change thanks to these Fanta Mentos I absolutely loved these and they really do taste just like Fanta Orange.
Available in major supermarkets chains
CLIF Bar Minis (rrp £1.19 ea)
These tasty mini bars contain 4g of plant-based protein and have everything that you love about the regular bars except in mini form!
Available at Tesco, sports retail outlets and on Amazon
Product of the Month
SlooOW Stone Oven Baguette White (£1.60)
This absolutely delicious baguette is given more than 24hrs to rise resulting in the most scrumptious stone-baked oven baguette. We buy part-baked bread a lot and this is the nicest one we have tasted.
Available from Tesco and Coop
What’s in the Box? Recipe Mixes
Flava It! Smokey BBQ and Piri Piri (£1.10 each)
Perfect for adding a little something something to your family meals. Adds heaps of flavour to an otherwise boring dish. Also extremely easy to use, just sprinkle, cook, serve and enjoy!
Available at Tesco, Morrisons and Home Bargains
What’s in the Box? Savoury
Hippeas Chickpea Puffs Salt & Vinegar Vibes (£1.00 each)
I am always surprised by how nice the Hippeas Chickpea Puffs are and this salt & vinegar flavour is no exception. They are also gluten-free, high in fibre and each 22g bag is only 92 kcal. Vegan too!
Available from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ocado, Holland & Barrett, Waitrose, uk.hippeas.com
Olly’s Salted Original Pretzel Thins (£1.10)
Thoroughly enjoyed these pretzel thins by Olly’s. Tasty, crunchy and just the right amount of salt too. They’re incredibly light too.
Available on Waitrose, Asda and on Ocado, Amazon and Olly's Shop
What’s In The Box? Cereals
Jordan’s Crunchy Oat Granola Raisin & Almond (£3.60)
Everyone loved this Jordan’s Crunchy Oat Granola Rasin & Almond. This was one of 3 flavours you could have received in your box.
Available in major supermarket chains
What’s In The Box? Drinks
Rubicon Sparkling Passion Fruit / Rose Lemonade (£1.00 each)
I always enjoy Rubicon and I loved these two flavours. The Rose Lemonade was a really pleasant surprise. You would have received both of these in your May Degusta Box.
Rose Lemonade available at independent retailers. Passion Fruit available at Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Co-op
Highball Cocktails Italian Spritz (£1.99)
Alcohol-free but still full of flavour, this Highball Cocktail Italian Spritz did not disappoint. Its bitter-sweet taste is derived from Italian bitters and oranges.
Available on www.highballcocktails.com, Amazon, Not On The High Street, Yumbles and Independent Shops
What’s In The Box? Sauces
MAGGI Authentic Malaysian Chilli Saucey (£2.15 each)
MAGGI is a name we trust as we buy quite a lot of MAGGI products. This sauce was new to us but we actually haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet though.
Available in major supermarket chains
Hellmann’s BBQ Sauce 430ml (£2.00 each)
This went down really well. My family loved the smokey BBQ flavour and no doubt we will buy more in the future!
Available at Heron Foods, Iceland and on Amazon
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box May 2023
I enjoyed the selection of products in the Degusta Box for May 2023.
My favourite three items were the Mento Fanta, the SlooOw Stone Oven Baguette and Olly’s Salted Orginal Pretzel Thins.
I can’t stress enough how nice the Mentos Fanta are! I’m not sure how they did it but they taste just like the Fanta Orange drink.
The stone oven baguette was amazing; such gorgeous bread! Last but not least are Olly’s Pretzel Thins in Salted Original. Just so deliciously light and crunchy.
