Thanks to BzzAgent, I recently got to try out L’Oréal Paris Wrinkle Expert Anti-Wrinkle Firming Cream 45+. If you’re on the lookout for an affordable anti-ageing moisturiser that actually feels nice on the skin, you’ve probably seen the L’Oréal Paris Wrinkle Expert 45+ cream pop up a few times. It’s designed for skin over 45 and promises to help with dryness, fine lines, and loss of firmness—without costing a fortune.
I’m always a bit curious (and slightly sceptical!) about budget skincare claims, so I decided to give it a proper try myself. I used it for a couple of weeks to see how it felt day-to-day, how my skin reacted, and whether it actually made any noticeable difference.
In this post, I’m sharing my honest thoughts—what I liked, what I didn’t, and whether it’s something I’d genuinely recommend adding to your routine.

Benefits of the L’Oreal Paris Wrinkle Expert Anti-Wrinkle Firming Cream 45+
With age, our skin tends to lose its elasticity and firmness, resulting in the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. That’s where this anti-wrinkle cream comes in.
The L’Oréal Paris Wrinkle Expert 45+ Anti-Wrinkle Firming Cream is designed for mature skin that’s starting to feel a little drier or less firm than it used to be. It’s designed to:
- Smooth the appearance of fine lines
- Improve skin firmness
- Provide long-lasting hydration
It has a richer texture than a standard moisturiser, but it’s still meant to absorb nicely without leaving your skin feeling greasy—which is always a big plus.

First Impressions
When I first tried this cream, the texture really stood out. It feels quite rich and nourishing, but once you start applying it, it sinks in more quickly than you’d expect.
Your skin feels soft almost straight away, with that slightly “plumped” feeling that makes your skin look a bit more refreshed. It also layers well with the rest of your routine and doesn’t sit heavily on the skin, which I really liked.

This anti-wrinkle cream contains Retino-Peptides; this is what it says about them on the L’Oréal website:-
RETINO-PEPTIDES are a powerful complex of Pro Retinol A and PEPTIDES. The formula helps to stimulate skin surface cell renewal in the epidermal layer.
It contains Pro-Retinol A, a potent ingredient known for its anti-ageing properties. This helps to stimulate collagen production, which in turn improves skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
My Results After 14 Days
After using it consistently for two weeks, I definitely noticed a few small but positive changes.
My skin felt more hydrated overall, especially in the areas where I tend to get dryness. It stayed comfortable throughout the day, which is something I always look for in a moisturiser.
In terms of fine lines, I wouldn’t say there was a dramatic difference, but my skin did look a bit smoother and slightly more plump. It’s more of a subtle improvement rather than anything instant or drastic.
One thing I did notice, though, is that my skin felt a little sensitive at times. It wasn’t anything too extreme, but it’s worth mentioning if your skin is on the more reactive side.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Really affordable and easy to find: One of the biggest positives is the price. It’s a great option if you want to dip into anti-ageing skincare without spending a lot, and it’s widely available in shops like Boots and Superdrug as well as online.
- Deeply hydrating for dry or mature skin: This is where it really shines. It gives your skin that comfortable, moisturised feeling that lasts throughout the day, especially if you struggle with dryness or tightness.
- Leaves skin feeling soft and slightly plumper: After applying, my skin felt instantly softer, and over time it had that slightly “plumped” look that makes fine lines a bit less noticeable.
- Rich texture that doesn’t feel heavy: Even though it feels quite nourishing in the pot, it absorbs surprisingly well and doesn’t leave a greasy layer behind. It strikes a nice balance between rich and lightweight.
- Works well under makeup: It sits nicely on the skin and doesn’t pill, which makes it easy to use as part of your morning routine. Foundation applies smoothly over the top.
- Good everyday, no-fuss moisturiser: It’s simple and easy to use—no complicated steps or strong actives to worry about. Ideal if you just want something reliable for daily hydration.
Cons
- Results are quite subtle: While my skin did feel smoother and more hydrated, this isn’t a dramatic “wow” product. The changes are gradual and fairly gentle rather than transformative.
- May not suit sensitive skin: I did notice a bit of sensitivity after repeated use, which could be down to fragrance or certain ingredients. If your skin is reactive, it’s definitely one to patch test first.
- Contains fragrance: The scent isn’t overpowering, but it is noticeable. This could be a downside if you prefer fragrance-free skincare or if your skin tends to react to scented products.
- Not packed with active anti-ageing ingredients: If you’re looking for strong actives like retinol or high-strength peptides, this might feel a bit basic. It’s more focused on hydration and comfort than intensive treatment.
- Jar packaging isn’t the most hygienic: Like many moisturisers, it comes in a tub, which means you’re dipping your fingers in each time. Not a dealbreaker, but worth mentioning.

Who Is This Best For?
I always think this is the most helpful part of any review, because not every product is going to suit everyone—and that’s completely okay.
The L’Oréal Paris Wrinkle Expert 45+ cream is a really nice option if you’re looking for something simple, affordable, and hydrating without overcomplicating your routine.
This might be a great fit for you if:
- Your skin is on the drier side and needs a bit of extra comfort and hydration
- You’re starting to notice fine lines or a loss of firmness, and want something gentle to support your skin
- You prefer a rich but non-greasy moisturiser that feels nourishing without being heavy
- You’re building a budget-friendly skincare routine that still feels effective
- You want an easy, everyday cream that works well under makeup
It might not be the best choice if:
- Your skin is very sensitive or reactive, especially to fragrance
- You’re looking for strong anti-ageing actives like retinol or more targeted treatments
- You prefer fragrance-free skincare
- You want fast, dramatic results rather than gradual improvements
For me, it sits nicely as a reliable, everyday moisturiser—the kind you can reach for without thinking, especially when your skin just needs a bit of extra hydration and softness.
Where to Buy
You can usually find the L’Oréal Paris Wrinkle Expert 45+ cream in places like Boots, Superdrug, and online retailers like Amazon, so it’s really easy to pick up.
