What’s in the Box?
So, let’s take a look at what I received in my March 2017 DegustaboxUK.
Heinz [Seriously] Good Creamy Tomato & Garlic Sauce £1.99
There were two flavours and you receive one of them in the box. This is a really lovely, creamy sauce and as it suggests on the label, perfect to use with chicken. I don’t like garlic, so this wasn’t to my taste but the rest of the family, who all love garlic, really enjoyed it. It’s a great way to just jazz up a plain meal.
Rebel Kitchen Chocolate Mylk £1.89
This is a great option for those who need dairy-free. A really lovely organic coconut milk drink with Cacao. I didn’t get a look in with this as one of my lads wolfed it down. Apparently, it tasted great though and I was asked if there were more. I guess that’s a good sign and a definite thumbs up for this dairy-free alternative.
Weetabix On The Go £1.39 /On The Go with Protein £1.99
These are perfect for people who don’t like breakfast or simply find they don’t have the time. My teenage daughter is terrible for skipping breakfast, so she had these and really enjoyed both of them. They have the same fibre and protein as you would find in two Weetabix biscuits and semi-skimmed milk. This makes them a really quick and easy breakfast, yet still nutritional.
Westons Cider x 2 £1.99 each
Sadly I can’t drink due to the meds I take – such a shame as I used to enjoy an ice-cold cider. The Pure Hopped Cider is a collaboration between Westons Cider and Purity Brewing. Caple RD Dry Cider Blend No.5 is matured for up to 18 months. This gives this complex, dry cider a crisp, powerful tart finish. Both of these were thoroughly enjoyed by one of my sons. Don’t worry he’s over 18! He gave both a big thumbs up.
Gusto Organic Lemon Energy £ 1.50
A really refreshing blend of whole crushed Sicilian lemons, Amazon guarana, Siberian ginseng and wonder herb astragalus. It’s sweetened with apple and grape juice and agave nectar. This tastes really nice chilled from the fridge; fresh citrus lemon energy drink.
Maldon Smoked Sea Salt Flakes £ 1.50
These are oak-smoked flakes and perfect to add to dishes; they go great with fish, bread and vegetables. They contain a balance of natural minerals too.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Peanut Butter/Mint £1.49 each
Two new flavours of Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo. You get both of these flavours. Peanut butter seems to be in everything lately but I’m not a fan myself. The rest of my family enjoyed it though. Then you have mint and chocolate, such a classic combination and definitely my favourite. I love mint chocolate and this was extremely nice. I’d definitely purchase this again, in fact, I added a bar to my shopping this week!
£onepounders Chocolate Eclairs £1.00
There are over 65 different confections available from £onepounders. You can’t really go wrong with a chocolate eclair. These went down really well with the family.
The Jelly Bean Factory £1.49
This box of jelly beans contains 36 gourmet flavours. There are no artificial colours or flavours in these – plus they are gelatine, gluten, nut-free and Vegetarian Society UK certified. These were really tasty jelly beans and didn’t last long between us all.
Naturelly £1.19
You receive one of 3 flavours in the March DegustaboxUK. I received the Apple & Blackcurrant flavour. These are jelly-like drinks that can be had as a snack or dessert. They have 100% RDA of Vitamin C. They are suitable for children aged 12 months plus. There are no added sugar or sweeteners; they do contain around 7g of naturally occurring fruit sugars though – roughly 1.5 teaspoons.
Whitworths Full of Super Cacao Raw Bar £1.50
These bars are crammed full of goodness from almonds, chia seeds, golden flax seeds, quinoa and acai. Also a natural source of Thiamine – which helps to maintain energy – they are also gluten-free, contain no soy and are suitable for vegetarians. For me, this was ok, not the best tasting and I wasn’t keen on the texture but it wasn’t horrible. It was just okay.
Pipers Crisps Burrow Hill Cider Vinegar & Sea Salt £2.00
These crisps were undeniably one of the bests crisps I have tasted. I love salt & vinegar crisps but I loved these even more. It was more subtle yet really full of flavour and the crisps themselves were just so crisp, light and golden. The only disappointing thing is there was not enough in the packet! Pipers Crisps make ‘Crisps as they should taste. They source their seasoning to flavour their crisps from producers that are passionate about their produce. The cider vinegar for these is made by Julian Temperley. He makes his cider vinegar from various old English cider apples. Really lovely crisps and I will definitely purchase more of these.
Overall Thoughts About The March 2017 DegustaboxUK
As usual, this month’s box is full of really great items. There was a nice assortment of different food and drink to try. I still think this is a fantastic box for trying new items and really, just incredible value for how much you pay each month.
My stand out item this month was the Pipers Crisps Burrow Hill Cider Vinegar & Sea Salt. They were pretty amazing. My next favourite was definitely the Cadbury Oreo Mint; very moreish.
NB: Please be aware that as I receive my DegustaboxUK for review purposes, I receive all items that are available each month. So there may be items that you didn’t receive in your own box.
