You could also pick something that is unique to them, but still in keeping with the things they like. Some of the most normal gifts that you can give, can be made a little less standard or boring when they are made completely personal. For instance, giving someone a puzzle or a game can be quite a standard gift. Now, wait, you’ve got to hear us out on this one. Gift cards or cash are often seen as a bit of a cop-out gift. However, it is important to remember that when you are picking out a unique gift for someone who already has everything, then they are quite clear about what they do and don’t like. So you are giving the gift of choice by letting them choose something for themselves.

With a gift card, you can choose precisely where they get to shop. So you can choose somewhere that would work best for them. Therefore it does show a little thought. There is definitely no shame in getting someone a gift card for a store that they love or for something that they love to do. It also helps to show that you know what they do and don’t like, by choosing the store that will suit them the best. Even a restaurant gift card can work well.

So with gift cards, you need to change your way of thinking. Stop thinking about a physical gift and what you would want to give them, and think about giving them the gift that they get to choose, and ultimately, will want to actually receive.

A really thoughtful gift is one that covers the cost of something that they would be paying for anyway. With a membership gift or a subscription as a gift, it is a gift that just keeps on giving too. It could be that you give them a year’s subscription to Netflix or Disney+, for example. If they are into music, you could choose Spotify instead. Or for books, it could be something more like Audible that would work best. There are things like National Trust memberships for a year that you could think about. As well as memberships to a local museum. Even a Costco membership for a year could work! 

Magazine subscriptions are another good idea too and can be personal, as you choose something that is unique to them. There are also a lot of monthly deliveries that you could get them a subscription for. Such as beauty boxes, food boxes, and others. When it is something that they want, and would normally pay for themselves, then it works out as a great gift, as you save them some money. 

Something that Money Can’t Buy

Sometimes a unique gift that money can’t buy is what is needed. That could be having their kids over for the weekend if you’re a family member or close friend. It could be offering free dog walks if you live locally to them. It could be offering to cook or clean. Or giving them help with something to do with their work, such as helping out as a virtual assistant. Just think outside the box and get creative with getting them a gift that money can’t buy. From there, you are bound to come up with something that your recipient will love.
