I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the nice weather that we have had on and off. Honestly, I keep thinking we’re still in March! It’s so hard to believe that it will be June in just a few days. Plus, next week we have the Platinum Jubilee, I still remember the Silver Jubilee back in 1977 – I was 6 years old then. Even so, I remember it very vividly, all the street parties, taking part in games in our street etc. Tables out in the road, all the neighbours and kids just out enjoying everything together. The community was a big thing back then, it’s shame we don’t really see that anymore. But, I am waffling, nothing new for me going off on a tangent, eh! So, let’s get down to business, which today is the Degusta Box for May Review.
What is Degusta Box All About?
If you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box For May 2022 Theme & Contents
So for the May box, Degusta Box went with a BBQ & Garden Party Theme. It’s certainly been a decent month for BBQs and I hope we have even nicer weather in June; just not too hot, I can’t handle it when it’s too hot!
What’s In The Box? Sweet Treats
Free From Mallows Vegan Vanilla Mallows (rrp £1.99) – I let Andy try these as I’m not really that keen on mallows. The texture in my mouth is just Ewwww lol Anyway, Andy said they were really nice, especially being Vegan. Available at Sainsbury’s. Ocado, H&B and Waitrose.
LoveRaw Salted Caramel Cre&m® Wafer Bars (rrp £1.89) – This is a really lovely wafer bar, especially if you enjoy salted caramel. The outer coating of caramel chocolate is smooth and tasty; the wafer itself is nice and crisp, with a fluffy salted caramel filling. Available at LoveRaw, Holland & Barrett, Boots, Wholefoods, ASDA, Booths, Waitrose Co-op, and Spar.
The Sweet Botanist Mellow Mint CBD Peppermint Gum (£3.50 – £3.99 ) – You would have received 1 of 2 items in the Degusta Box for May 2022. I received the Mellow Mint CBD Peppermint Gum packet. The other you could have received is the Mindful Mint CBD Spearmint Sweets. The ones I got were nice but I can’t say that they made me feel any different in any way. Either way, they were nice minty gums. Available on www.wholesalesweets.co.uk
What’s In The Box? Savoury
ViPnuts Hot Chilli (rrp £1.50) – Andy tried these and absolutely loved them, A LOT! He was thoroughly impressed with them. Though not so impressed with the fact that our supermarket where we do our online weekly shop doesn’t stock them. Available on Amazon, Ocado and their website.
Pea Pops Cheddar & Onion (rrp £1.85) One of my sons tried these and he absolutely loved them and was pretty disappointed that they don’t sell them where we do our weekly grocery shop. Available at ASDA, Ocado, Amazon and www.peapops.co.uk
Eat Water Slim Noodles Pad Thai (rrp £4.99) – You would have received one of 4 items in your Degusta Box for May. Either this Slim Noodle Pad Thai, Slim Rice Tarka Dal, Slim Noodles Panang Curry or Slim Pasta Arrabbiata. Andy got to try this as I’m not a curry lover really. He said it was pretty tasty for how many calories it was but it wasn’t enough to satisfy his hunger lol Available at Holland & Barrett.
SlooOW Crispy Rustic Rolls with Honey (rrp £1.65) – These really do have a lovely crispy crust and soft bready in the middle. Really enjoyed these and would buy them again in the future. Available at Tesco and ASDA.
Carr’s Italian Herbs Flavour Melts (£1.69) – We haven’t opened these yet but we’ve bought and loved a lot of Carr’s products before and always loved them. I’ll update this once we try them. Available at Tesco.
What’s in the Box? Sauces
Geo Watkins Mushroom Ketchup (£2.00) – I must admit I did a double-take when I saw this Mushroom Ketchup. I really don’t know how to describe this lol It has a very distinct flavour and I can see why they say to use it in pies, gravies and stews as it does have that meaty mushroom flavour if you know what I mean? lol Available at Tesco, Waitrose, Booths and Ocado.
Bull’s Eye NY Steakhouse BBQ Sauce (£2.00) – We first tried this in a past Degusta Box and we have bought it on a regular basis ever since, so needless to say, we are big fans of this BBQ sauce! Available at all major retailers.
What’s In The Box? Drinks
Gunna Turtle Juice Tropical Lemonade (£1.10) – Refreshing when chilled and makes you think of being by the beach and enjoying the sun, sand and sea. It’s packed full of fruity, sweet mangos and zestful limes, with just a drop of coconut. The perfect summer drink! Available on Amazon, Ocado, Holland & Barrett, Sainsbury’s and in lots of independent retailers.
Echo Falls Merlot (£2.00) – Echo Falls is a brand of wine we buy quite often, especially Merlot as Andy really enjoys it. He does love his red wine! Available at ASDA and convenience stores.
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box For May 2022
This was another box with little in that I liked – my family are always pleased with the contents of each box as they aren’t such picky eaters as I am. It’s very rare that anything goes to waste between the 6 of us.
It was really hard to pick a favourite from this box as although there were a couple of items that I enjoyed, I didn’t LOVE, love them – you know? Anyway, I will pick the Gunna Turtle Juice Tropical Lemonade because it is essentially summer in a can, and what’s not to love about that?
