Do we think that we might be seeing the last of the sunny days of Summer? I feel like we might be and I can actually tolerate these kinds of Summer into Autumn days. Autumn is by far my favourite time of the year. I love Halloween and the nights drawing in, cosy blankets and fairy lights! Anyway, I am actually reasonably early with my review for the Degusta Box for August 2023. Shocking I know!!
What is Degusta Box All About?
So, if you are new here and have never heard of Degusta Box UK I’ll quickly explain what it is and how it works.
Degusta Box UK is a monthly subscription box that contains between 10-15 items each month, most of which are new to the market. The products are chosen and put together by a team of specialists who look for foods that are versatile, innovative, and delicious. You can read some of my reviews for previous boxes here. It costs £12.99 per month. You can also find a discount at the end of the post. So, that means you’ll pay just £7.99 for your first box!
Degusta Box August 2023 Theme & Contents
This month’s box doesn’t have a specific theme to it and it contains 13 items altogether and features 11 brands. So, let’s take a look at what the Degusta Box for August 2023 has to offer shall we?
What’s In The Box? Sweet Treats
BEAR Paws Strawberry & Apple and BEAR Paws Raspberry & Blueberry (rrp £1.40)
Cute, tasty little fruity paws that are gently baked and made from 100% fruit juice. No added sugar either. They are suitable for toddlers aged 2+. I actually love stuff like this and really enjoyed these. You would have received both flavours in your August Degusta Box.
Available from major supermarkets and online at Amazon and Ocado.
LU Le Petit Ganache (£1.70 ea)
This is the first filled biscuit in the LU range and it is incredibly moreish! The golden butter biscuit encases a soft, creamy choco-hazelnut filling.
Available in major supermarkets
PITCH Strawberry (£1.75 ea)
I was actually excited to see these in this month’s Degusta Box. I used to buy these when my kids were little and then they suddenly stopped making them. To see them back makes me happy as I loved them too.
Available at ALDi from27th August to 3rd September 2023 and at Tesco from 4th September 2023
Whitworths SHOTS Fruity Biscuit 4 pack (£2.00 ea)
These are actually one of my favourite snacks as I loved dried fruit and these give an ideal serving in each pack. These are a mix of cranberries, sultanas and shortcake biscuit pieces covered in white chocolate. The only thing that is bad about them is I usually want to eat more than one pack at a time! lol
Available at major supermarkets
What’s in the Box? Savoury
Nature’s Heart Sweet Chilli Crunch or Sour Cream & Chive Crunch(£2.25)
A delicious, crunchy mix of edamame, peas, broad beans and seeds. They are available in six flavours and you would have received either Sweet Chilli Crunch or Sour Cream & Chive Crunch. I got the Sweet Chilli Crunch which didn’t last long at all! I didn’t eat it because spicy but the rest of the family absolutely loved them!
Available at Waitrose, Holland & Barrett, WHSmith and on Ocado and Amazon.
Knorr Pastaria Pasta Parmesana or Bolognese or Carbonara (£1.40)
You would have received 1 of 3 available flavours in your Degusta Box for August 2023. I’m actually glad we got the Bolognese one as that would have been my preference anyway. They are all made with fusilli combined with creamy and rich sauces.
Available at ASDA
What’s In The Box? Drinks
Product of the Month
Fruit-tella Strawberry Water Enhancer (rrp £1.30)
I honestly wasn’t sure I’d like this because I’ve tried similar from other brands and just didn’t like the taste. However, this was delightful and refreshing. They’re made with natural fruit juices and are available in 2 flavours, Strawberry and Blackcurrant.
Available at exclusively at B&M for Summer 2023
J2O Spritz Apple & Elderflower or Spritz Pear & Raspberry (£3.55 per pack of 4)
You would have received 1 of 2 available flavours in your August box. As you can see I got the Apple & Elderflower flavour. I tried it but I’m not very keen on elderflower and even though it was subtle compared to the apple it was still too much for me. My daughter loved it though.
Available at major supermarkets
Carlsberg 0.0 Pilsner (£ 0.88)
I can’t believe these have zero alcohol in them and they’re only 63 calories a bottle! Colour me impressed! Ice cold and just great tasting. If you’re looking for an alcohol-free beer, give these a try! You receive 2 bottles in this box.
Available at selected Tesco stores.
Tropicana Long Life Smooth Orange (£3.00 each)
Smooth, orange juice that tastes fresh and full of flavour and no added sugar plus it stays that way for longer. The oranges that make this juice are freshly squeezed within 24 hours of being picked! Loved this, such a nice fresh orange juice.
Available at Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Ocado and Spar
What’s In The Box? Sauces
Rubies in the Rubble Squeezy Tomato Ketchup (£3.50 each)
I have to say that I love the name of this! This is ketchup but as they say, ‘gooder for you, your plate and the planet’. It’s an award-winning ketchup too. It contains double the fruit but half the amount of sugar compared to other leading brands. They use surplus and wonky fruit that would otherwise go to waste. It still has that great tomato ketchup too!
Available at Tesco, Waitrose, The Co-operative & on Ocado.
My Overall Thoughts On The Degusta Box July 2023
I really enjoyed the contents of the Degusta Box for August 2023. There were only 2 items that I didn’t like. That might be something of a record for me! lol
My top 3 favourites from this box were the PITCH Strawberry, loved these years ago when I used to buy them for my kids. The fruity biscuit is my favourite SHOTS, so loved these too. I was pleasantly surprised with the Fruit-tella Strawberry Water Enhancer. Really makes a lovely drink out of water.
